Obituary of Evelyn Margaret MITCHELL
February 8, 1929 – Willen, Manitoba
August 9, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta
It is with great sadness that our family announce the passing of Evelyn Mitchell of Calgary, AB, on Monday, August 9, 2021 at the age of 92 years. Evelyn was predeceased by the love of her life, Orval, on October 15, 2016.
Evelyn was born on a wintery day in Willen, MB, on February 8, 1929. Her greatest joy was serving other people, whether it was by feeding them one her of wonderful meals or her baking. Her dedication within the church was as a great prayer warrior and sharing the gospel. Before coming to Calgary Evelyn taught Sunday school and held Vacation Bible School in the family home. Coffee with friends and family always included sharing her faith and with all her challenges in life she showed her faith. Evelyn was blessed with ninety-two years and finished writing her last chapter on August 9, 2021 and it ended with "Amen".
Evelyn is survived by her daughters, Sharon Chatwin and Brenda-Lee Mitchell; grandchildren, Andrea Chatwin, Randall Chatwin, Merlin and Dana Chatwin, Shalena Lee Mitchell, and BJ and Michelle Graham; and great-grandchildren, Kerlinda, Ethan, Bella, Judah, Mika, Evangelena, Kylie and Liam. She is also survived by her sister Alice Inkster.
Funeral Services will be held at First Alliance Church (12345 – 40th Street S.E., Calgary, AB) on Monday, August 16, 2021 with a viewing beginning at 11:00 a.m. Celebration of Evelyn’s Life at 12:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the church. Graveside service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. Condolences, memories and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
The family would like to express their greatest gratitude to the staff at Walden Heights for their love and care right to her last breath and to Dr. G Hunter.
