Obituary of Les Francis

July 13, 1962 – Campbell River, British Columbia

August 9, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts to announce that Leslie (Les) Martin Francis, beloved husband of Lisa Marie Francis (Nee Mueller) of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, August 9 at the age of 59.

Les was born in Campbell River, BC, on July 13, 1962 to father Donald Martin Francis and mother Heather Sterling (Nee Gimse). Most of his childhood was spent in Enderby, BC, where loved to explore the river and lakes. Les moved from British Columbia to Edmonton, AB, for a short time then landed in Calgary in 1985 where he met his wife Lisa and they were married in 1992. They welcomed their son Jaxon in 2003. Les spent many years in management. He was with HD supply for the last fifteen years as a Distribution Center Manager. Les was very passionate about the company and cared deeply for the business and the people. Les had a love for anything antique especially for bottles to add to his collection of ones that he had found in the Shuswap River. He enjoyed going to garage sales with his son and passed on the love of antiquities to him. Les also loved the outdoors especially sitting in the gazebo in his backyard listening to classic rock that maybe was a bit too loud at times. He welcomed family and friends with a cold beer or cheers and loved to sit around the fire pit. Les wore his heart on his sleeve. He was an avid story teller, loved to reminisce and was the life of the party. Les was a very charismatic man, people were drawn to him.

Left to mourn is his wife Lisa Francis (nee Mueller), son Jaxon Francis, mother Heather Sterling (Richard), sisters, Marjory Rouck (Colin), April Grimm (Gordon), Wendi Atkinson, Jade Ching (Jeff), Stephanie Myles (Landon); brother-in-law Travis Mueller (Dawn) and sister-in-law Holly Laidlaw (nee Mueller). He is also survived by his aunts, uncles and numerous cousins; as well as thirteen nieces, seven nephews, seventeen great-nieces and nephews. The times that he spent with family and friends, many that were lifelong, meant the world to him. Les was predeceased by his father Donald Martin Francis in 1996.
