Obituary of Wesley Leroy Hartman

August 9, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

 

Wes Hartman, beloved father, grandfather, uncle, and friend to many, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 9, 2021 in the loving arms of his daughters at the age of 88 years.

 

Wes was an avid gardener, a keen golfer, a world traveler, a mischievous card player and a passionate supporter and volunteer at St. Andrew’s and Deer Park United Churches. He curled with the FLC Seniors Curling, played bridge with Mobile Exxon’s Mocana retirees and sang tenor with the Spirit Singers choir at Deer Park United Church as well as the G.O.L.D. (Gentlemen of Lyrical Distinction) barbershop quartet and Stampede City Chorus and Western Reunion barbershop choruses. Wes will be lovingly remembered for his quick wit, infectious smile, mischievous grin, genuine hugs, and enthusiastic handshakes.

 

Wes will be deeply missed by his children, Brian (Karen), Donna (Stewart) and Anne; granddaughters, Kimberly (Jeff), Rachelle (Reece) and Diana (James); sister Marion (Byron) and numerous nieces and nephews. Wes was predeceased by the love of his life and soulmate of fifty-eight years, Joan Hartman, his parents, Leroy and Alice Hartman; and his brothers, Allan and Walter.

 

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date when all can safely gather in person and remember him in song.
