Obituary of Melody Godbout

May 14, 1963 – Calgary, Alberta

August 9, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Melody “Muffey” Godbout, beloved daughter, sister, and aunt, passed away on Monday, August 9, 2021, at the age of 58 years.

Muffey was employed as a Bookkeeper and Accounts Manager for Claresholm Taxi and Storage. Muffey enjoyed keeping Mike organized and the close friendship she had with Mike’s wife Bonnie. Many a time was spent sharing a tale or two over a Tim’s coffee.

Muffey graduated from Crescent Heights High School and went to work for Merrit Management a property management firm who managed many of the high-rise buildings in downtown Calgary. That’s where she began a love of Accounting and the Management Business.

Muffey went on to work for uncle John and aunt Linda Feeney, at Round 2 New and Used Furniture, with her Grandmother Min. Muffey adored working alongside Min, where she taught Muffey a few sales tips and tricks, after Grandma’s tutelage, "Muffey could sell a pie to a blind man". This was later verified when she volunteered at her nieces’ schools bake sale, by a blind man who indeed made the same statement and bought a donated pie from Muffey.

When her father Don started T&D Auto Sales, Muffey went to work for him and her mother Sharon. Muffey loved the fast pace, and the opportunity to meet new people. Where many enjoyed their interactions with her; a friend was quoted as saying “she outsold many in the profession".

Some of her favorite memories was spending time with her nieces and nephews, who she loved dearly. Whether it was telling wonderful stories of magical realms and evil monsters, or simply sitting down next to them to tickle their arms, Muffey would remind us of her secret trick to quiet a fussy baby, "simply tickle behind their ear and baby instantly calms down". Muffey loved being involved in her families lives as much as possible. Muffey also loved to patrol the internet, finding funny videos, interesting stories, and new projects to share with her sister. The internet is where she met her former husband Hugh Fagan, whom she later married.

Muffey’s proudest moments were being there for her sister Carol while her nieces and nephews came into her life. Muffey loved all her nieces and nephews immensely, she treated them like her own children. It was also a proud day when she married her former husband, Hugh. Recently, however, her proudest moment was when she beat breast cancer.

Muffey loved meeting new people, learning about their lives, and

offering a sympathetic ear to listen. Muffey made friends wherever she went. She will be most remembered for the genuine love she had for every human, whether you be related or not she will always be our beloved, aunt.

Muffey is survived by her mother Sharon, brothers, Cory Godbout, and Johnny Godbout; sister Carol McKervey, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Muffey was predeceased by her father Donald Mervin Godbout, grandmothers, Min Godbout, and Sophie Divel; uncles, John Feeney, Tony Godbout, Bob Godbout, Larry Godbout, and Richard Kerntoph.
