Obituary of Anthony Michael David Thomas

Anthony (Tony) Thomas of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, August 9, 2021 at the age of 47 years.

Anthony Michael David Thomas – Such a long moniker for such a humble man. Even though he lived most of his life either in Edmonton or Calgary, he was a wanderer. He lived and worked his way across most of Canada and his goal was to reach the east coast - unfortunately that was not realized. 

He was an incredibly talented landscape artist. His specialty and love was in “Hard Landscaping”, creating beautiful walkways, patios, walls…anything that required stone, bricks and pavers - and visualizing as to how the job would look when completed. Everywhere he went, he made lifelong friends. His passions were his poetry, playing crib and chess with his family and friends, and camping. Always the consummate philosopher, he enjoyed the repartee of great conversations. And he loved to dance and laugh!

He NEVER compromised on his ideals, beliefs, or his principles.

We will forever miss his wit, his humour, his laughter, his smile, his unconditional love.

Anthony is survived by his mom and dad, Sheila and Glenn Good; dad and step-mom, Gordon and Anita Thomas of Red Deer; brother Chris Thomas, sister Karen Thomas Hagglund; grandparents, Jim and Geri Fowler; three step-sisters, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews; and an unmeasurable number of friends. He was predeceased by his uncle Richie, and his grandparents Bob and Thelma Thomas.

A Casual Dedication will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, Hospitality Centre, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. Reception and Celebration of Life to follow at Anthony’s sister’s home for all family and friends to attend. The family are honouring his memory by wearing his favourite attire at his service, a white T-Shirt and jeans. If you wish to do the same, please do so.
