Obituary of Robin Abigail (nee Taprell) FOLEY

March 23, 1936 – August 10, 2021

Robin Foley of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at the age of 85 years.

Robin was born in Calgary, at Edison Crescent SW, on the kitchen table, the second daughter of Abbie and Rees Taprell. From the beginning it was evident that Robin would be a very determined individual, and she was to the very end. After graduating, Robin Foley flew the skies with TransCanada Airlines/Air Canada as a flight attendant. Her career was cut short with the airline when Robin developed thrombosis in her leg. Until that time Robin enjoyed her time serving people, travelling and attending the odd, good party. The love of Robin’s life was her poodles and before that Bedlington terriers. The dogs were always well groomed and dressed but at times lacked manners commensurate with their appearance. It was with great sadness that her last poodle, Pierre, was put down in 2019. In between walking her dogs Robin found the time to sew, smock dresses, knit sweaters and tend to her flowers. During her mid-to-latter years Robin suffered from Dystonia and the impacts from surgery to relieve pain in her neck. However she rarely complained and achieved remarkable furniture-moving feats despite her disability.

Robin leaves behind her older sister Anne McLeod of Aurora, ON, and four nieces, Heather Emery of  ON, Robin McLeod of AB, Martha Roy of Oregon, and Penny Dillon of Georgia.

She was predeceased by her husband, Captain Stuart G Foley, a long-serving pilot with Air Canada (formerly TransCanada Airlines) flying from the age of eighteen years to the airline’s mandatory retirement age.

At Robin’s request a funeral service will not be held. She will be interred at the Old Banff Cemetery alongside her grandparents, Charles and Bertha Taprell; parents, Rees and Abbie Taprell; and aunt Jane Huckvale.

Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Robin’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
