Obituary of Margaret OOSTENBRINK
February 22, 1940 – Netherlands
February 5, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta
After suffering for many years with rheumatoid arthritis, Margaret passed away peacefully in the presence of her family on Monday, February 5, 2018 at the Rocky View Hospital.
Margaret was born in the Netherlands and emigrated with her family in 1951 to New Westminster, BC. She was independent in spirit and passionate about her adopted causes and knew how to get around and become involved. She worked many years as a legal secretary and also as an assistant to Rob Anders, past member of parliament of Canada.
Margaret battled terminal lung disease with courage sustained by her faith in Jesus Christ as her Saviour. She is survived by her son Jonathan Hoppe (Zoie); two grandchildren Aria and Junior; daughter Carolyn Worden (Scott); two sisters, Jane Pol (Ebel) and Lucy Mulder (+Dick); her two brothers, William Oostenbrink (Maria), Berny Oostenbrink and numerous nephews and nieces.
She was predeceased by her ex-husband Charles Hoppe and her brother Albert Oostenbrink.
Funeral Services will be held at Bethel United Reformed Church (730 – 101st Street S.W., Calgary, AB) on Monday, February 12, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Margaret’s final resting place will be at Edenbrook Memorial Gardens.
