Obituary of Carol Drake (nee Smith)
November 30, 1942 – Edmonton, Alberta
August 12, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Carol “Gay” Drake of Calgary, Alberta, mother of Bruce Drake and wife of the late Ernie Drake, on August 12, 2021.
After retiring from teaching, Gay worked for the Osteoporosis Society of Canada. Gay loved life, accepting every challenge but her greatest love was her family. Now, with heavy hearts, it is our turn to say, “love you to bits! Bye Bye for now.”.
Gay is survived by her son Bruce Drake, sisters, Barbara Kennard, Mary Scott, and Karen Smith; brother Len Smith, sisters-in-law, Kathleen Wise, and Elizabeth Anne Wilson; and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
A Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’s Crowfoot Chapel on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow. The family wishes to thank the staff at Peter Lougheed Hospital for their care. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Osteoporosis Society of Canada.
In living memory of Carol Gay Drake, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area.
