Doris Brown

Obituary of Doris Margaret Brown

June 15, 1920 – August 13, 2021

Our dear Great-Nana Brown, after a life well lived, and when the time was right, joined her son Barry, husband Leonard, sisters, Phyllis and Audrey (Bysouth); brothers, Eric and Bob (Bysouth) in heaven. What a reunion that will be.

My mother Doris lived life with great determination to be independent, always with energy and enthusiasm, with integrity to always do her best, stay positive, keep current, with lots of hope to never give up. We were blessed that she left us with memories of many amazing stories with her adventures, misadventures and lure of travel. But, above all, she put her family first and was so proud of all of us.

Doris, at sixty-five, retired from Lloydminster, SK, to White Rock, BC, after a successful career as a realtor. Like her mother before her, she was lured to the sea. Her happiest days were in White Rock. A visit with her always meant a walk to and on the White Rock Pier, with a treat of fish and chips on the beach. She moved to Calgary, AB, when she was ninety-three and lived at Garrison Green till she was one hundred years old.

She is survived by her younger brother Chris (92), her daughter Patricia (Ronald) Culver, grandsons, Bradley (Margot), Timothy (Kelly) and Rob; granddaughters, Terra Brown, Suann Brown, and Cindy Phillips; great-grands, Gavin, Henry, Amaya, Anna, Emily, Chloe, Senna, Ryder, Elise, Ryan and seven great-great-grands. She was Auntie Doris to many nieces and nephew’s from the Brown and Bysouth families who she was dearly fond of.

The family was so grateful for the love and care given to her at Dulcina Hospice for the past seven months under Dr. Sharma and the amazing nursing team. Thank you.

A private family Celebration of Life will be held  Sunday, August 22, 2012. Later there will be another Celebration of life in White Rock. Condolences, memories and photos can also be shared and viewed here.

In living memory of Doris Brown, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB T2S 2L5, Telephone: 403-243-8200.
