Obituary of Pattie Marcia MARSHALL

September 13, 1941 – Edmonton, Alberta

August 17, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Pattie Marcia Marshall passed away peacefully on August 17, 2021, after a lengthy and valiant battle with COPD at age 79, with her family and friends at her side.

Pattie was trained as a Lab Technician at the University of Alberta where she met her husband Ted (Ross Edward) Marshall. They were married and started a family shortly after. In the midst of raising a family Pattie worked to receive her realtors license and worked for a period before the passing of her son, Brent. Pattie’s favourite years of her working career were while she worked with dear friends at Norm’s Ski Hut. Pattie was a strong, independent woman who enjoyed many passions throughout her life. She was a beautiful piano player and achieved her Grade 8 through the Royal Conservatory of music. She always owned a piano and continued to play throughout her life just for the sheer joy of it. Pattie was an avid Bridge player and developed several life long friendships with her ‘bridge ladies’. She loved gardening, creating stained glass lights, and of course, skiing. Her greatest passion was her family. Pattie immersed herself in all aspects of her children and grandchildren’s, endeavours, whether it be skiing, motocross or gymnastics, academics, basketball, and the Arts. She taught all three of her children to ski at age three, and continued on with her teaching in the Nancy Greene Ski League at Mt Norquay. She spent countless hours behind the scenes supporting and enabling Brent, Leah and Brad to be successful in their Ski Racing careers as well as all other pursuits. Pattie accomplished so much through her life and touched so many lives.

She will be greatly missed by her husband Ted Marshall, her two children, Leah and Brad (Katie); and her adoring grandchildren, Fisher, Willa and James. Also left to grieve her presence is her loving sister Linda (Ian), and many close friends. Pattie was predeceased by her parents Freda and Marcus, as well as her son Brent. Pattie was a dedicated wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend.

It is Pattie’s wish that no funeral service be held. If you so choose, a donation to the Brent Marshall Memorial Scholarship Fund would be a great way to honor Patties memory. Brent Marshall Memorial, Calgary Foundation, 1108 - 105 - 12 Ave, SE. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Pattie’s obituary here.

The family would like to thank so many people starting with Dr. Beverley Gold and her entire staff for their unfailing, kind and compassionate care of Pattie. As well as Pattie’s companion and health advocate, and dear friend Rosie (Rose Marie Watts), who fought tirelessly for Pattie. The family would also like to thank the care team at United Active Living in Fish Creek and the Palliative Home Care Team for their unfettered care and expertise in Pattie's final days.
