Obituary of David Arthur Cornford

September 2, 1934 – Brighton, England

August 19, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

David Cornford of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at the age of 86 years.

David was born in England in 1934. In his 20’s, David met Maureen at a Scouts dance. Both David and Maureen were athletic and adventurous. They married in 1959 and had three boys: Conrad, Jason and Roland.

Following their need for adventure, the family moved to Newfoundland in the early 70’s. They returned to England but it wasn’t long before they decided to try Canada again. This time to Sarnia, Ontario where David was a Project Manager with Catalytic. The final family move was to Calgary in 1984.

David was always an outdoor enthusiast. In his youth he was a Scout, rock climber, hiker and motorcyclist. Once in Canada he shifted his focus to whitewater canoeing and kayaking and in his later years became an avid ocean kayaker.

A kind, gentle man with a big heart for all his loved ones. He will be sorely missed his family, friends, neighbours and all the dogs in his life.

David was predeceased by his wife Maureen, his brother Roy and his grandson Chase Cornford.

He is survived by his sister Doreen Jacob. Three sons: Conrad (Kelly), Jason (Shelley) and Roland (Aline) Cornford and four grandchildren: Kyle, Brenden and Alex Cornford and Devon Cote.
