Obituary of Hiromichi Maksym Shiozawa

December 8, 1975 – Edmonton, Alberta

August 16, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Hiromichi Maksym Shiozawa, beloved partner of Shizuka Nakagawa of Calgary, AB, passed away from a sudden heart attack on Monday, August 16, 2021 at the age of 45 years. None of us were ready for him to leave. He was gone too soon but his beautiful soul is engrained so deeply in us that he will never be forgotten.

Hiro, as he was known to many, is survived by his father and mother Chiaki and Misae; loving partner Shizuka; beautiful daughter Julie; sisters Naomi, Michi, and Lisa; nieces and nephews Taichi, Misato, Kyosuke, Yohei, Bryson, and Lexi; lifelong friend and brother Edmund; and other close friends and family. He was a force to be reckoned with and had a fierce abundance of love for his family and friends. He was a kind and devoted uncle, a “Hero,” to his nieces and nephews and his ability to connect with each of them in a special way has provided them with a legacy to carry on. He will be remembered for his warmth and willingness to help others at Paysafe (formerly Neteller) where he enjoyed working and met people who became an important part of his life.

Hiro had such a great love for playing tennis, soccer, and hockey but more than that the time he spent on the courts and fields with friends, old and new, filled him with absolute joy. He was passionate about traveling to places around the world with Shizuka and was always excited about taking family and friends trekking into hidden gems in nature. He took great pleasure in documenting his adventures and all the beauty he witnessed everywhere he went and sharing his words and images with a wide audience. He put his all into everything he did and his zest and passion for life were truly infectious.

We love Hiro dearly and miss him more than words can ever say. We would like to thank everyone in his life that loved him and brought joy to his life.

We plan to have a private funeral service, though we would like to thank you for your incredible support during this difficult time. We hope to have a “Celebration of Life” at a later date that we will communicate on Hiro’s Facebook tribute page.  Condolences, memories and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
