Connie MORRIS

Obituary of Connie MORRIS

April 20, 1928– London, England
August 21, 2021– Calgary, Alberta

Connie Morris (nee Tarryer) of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 21, 2021, at the age of 93, surrounded by her family.

Connie was born in London, England in 1928. Her youth was an eventful one, having lived in London during World War II, a time which included being evacuated to Wales. Following the war, Connie met her husband of 72 years, Eric Morris, and together they decided to immigrate to Canada with their two young children. The family settled in Calgary, AB, in 1956. Over the following decades, on top of taking care of her family, Connie chose to take the unusual step of returning to the workforce, firstly as a medical secretary before joining Hull Services (Hull Child and Family Services), a place she greatly enjoyed working at and loved the people she worked with.  However, her favourite role was that of grandma to Sarah, Kate and David, and great grandma to Jake and Willow. Along with her devotion to her family, Connie and Eric travelled a great deal, often including family and friends. Her family will forever miss her loving spirit, sharp wit, knitted gifts and famous Yorkshire puddings.

Connie will be greatly missed by her two children, Penny Hume, and Chris Morris; three grandchildren, Sarah Ferguson (John), Kate Hume (Calvin Ziganash), and David Hume; and two great-grandchildren, Jakob, and Willow Ferguson. Connie was predeceased by her husband Eric Morris on Friday, March 12, 2021, and son-in-law Jim Hume.

A Celebration of Connie and Eric’s Life will be held at a later date. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed here. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to Youth Central at https://youthcentral.com/donate/.

In living memory of Connie Morris, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB T2S 2L5, Telephone: 403-243-8200.
