August 21, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Emil Lok, beloved husband of Deon Ngan Lai Chan, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday, August 21, 2021, at the age of 61 years.

Emil was born in Hong Kong on May 5, 1960, where he grew up during his childhood and adolescent years. He spent his time during university in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, graduating in 1983 from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Science and Minor in Economics. After obtaining his degree, he moved back to Hong Kong to start his career in finance where he later met his wife Deon Chan and got married in 1992. Emil accomplished much through his life and was particularly proud of coming to Canada for education and later immigrating to Calgary and building his family. He was actively involved in the church and served God whole heartedly all his life in roles such as church deacon, interpreter, life group leader and volunteered as a Chinese school teacher.

Emil’s favourite activity was playing his guitar during his free time and listening to music. He also enjoyed working on the house and doing yard work.

He will be most remembered for being a faithful follower of Christ, filial son, devoted husband, loving father, great brother, admirable friend and dependable co-worker. He always put his family first even above himself. His sense of responsibility and selflessness will be cherished forever.

Besides his loving wife, Emil is survived by his one daughter, Stephanie; Emil is also survived by his mother, Mui Ling; brother and sister-in-law, Paul (Bonnie); as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Emil was predeceased by his father Kum Ming.
