Obituary of Emil Lok
May 5, 1960 – Hong Kong
August 21, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta
Emil Lok, beloved husband of Deon Ngan Lai Chan, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday, August 21, 2021, at the age of 61 years.
Emil was born in Hong Kong on May 5, 1960, where he grew up during his childhood and adolescent years. He spent his time during university in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, graduating in 1983 from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Science and Minor in Economics. After obtaining his degree, he moved back to Hong Kong to start his career in finance where he later met his wife Deon Chan and got married in 1992. Along with his wife, he immigrated to Calgary, Alberta, Canada in 1997 and had their daughter, Stephanie in 1998.
Emil accomplished much through his life and was particularly proud of coming to Canada for education and later immigrating to Calgary and building his family. He was actively involved in the church and served God whole heartedly all his life in roles such as church deacon, interpreter, life group leader and volunteered as a Chinese school teacher.
Emil’s favourite activity was playing his guitar during his free time and listening to music. He also enjoyed working on the house and doing yard work.
He will be most remembered for being a faithful follower of Christ, filial son, devoted husband, loving father, great brother, admirable friend and dependable co-worker. He always put his family first even above himself. His sense of responsibility and selflessness will be cherished forever.
Besides his loving wife, Emil is survived by his one daughter, Stephanie; Emil is also survived by his mother, Mui Ling; brother and sister-in-law, Paul (Bonnie); as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Emil was predeceased by his father Kum Ming.
駱和泰先生,生於香港1960年5月5曰,祖籍廣東花縣,家中長子,有一弟弟,從小跟從母親參與教會活動,成為一位基督徒。
中學畢業後遠赴加拿大升學,於沙省大學選修科學及經濟,1983年科學學士學位畢業,後回港從事銀行金融部門工作。1992年,與陳銀麗女士在香港結婚。
1997年夫婦二人移民加拿大-卡加利市,與家人相聚,任職投資機構。
1998年女兒駱茵出世,一家積極參與教會活動,業餘擔任不同事奉,如:執事,翻譯,小組領袖,和宣道中文學校義務老師。
和泰從小性格溫純,一生樸實,誠懇真摯,樂於助人,他最愛家人,一直盡心盡力照顧家中老少。
一心愛主,服事神,榮耀神!
他永遠是我們心目中的好弟兄,好兒子,好哥哥,好大伯,好丈夫,好爸爸,好女婿,好妺夫,好姐夫,好長輩,好同事,好朋友。
於2021年8月21日,因病安詳回到天家,享年六十一歲。

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel Of The Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB), on Friday, September 3, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. Family and friends who are unable to attend the Funeral Service in person are invited to join Mr. Lok’s service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted. Condolences, memories and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
