Obituary of Wilfredo Ramos

February 4, 1955 - San Fernando, Pampanga, Phillippines
August 23, 2021 - Edmonton, Alberta

Wilfredo Ramos, beloved husband of Restituta Ramos (nee Zapata), of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021 at the age of 66 years.

Willie was born in San Fernando, Pampanga, Phillippines on February 4, 1955. He Studied University in the Philippines, with a focus on Engineering. Willie worked in Saudi Arabia for 14 years from the early 80s, at the age of 24, where he started as an electrical surveyor and then as a draftsman. In 1987, he was able to sponsor his wife, Restie, and eldest daughter, Roanne, to join him in Saudi Arabia, followed by his other children, Carla and Joshua when they were born. 

In 1995, he and the rest of the family were sponsored to come to Canada by Elmo Zapata (thank you). He started as a Machinist and eventually worked his way up to Lead Machinist. 

Throughout his working career, he never forgot about his family. He worked hard to provide for his family here in Canada and to support those he loved in the Philippines. He wholeheartedly welcomed many family members who immigrated from the Philippines with generosity and open arms without expecting anything in return. 

In 2019, he was forced to retire, due to illness. Sadly, he never had the chance to enjoy his retirement, but he had a fruitful life always surrounded by people he loved, especially the love of his life. He emphasized that he did not regret anything and was proud of everything he accomplished.

Anyone who knew him knew of his love of ping-pong, playing guitar and karaoke. Oh, and we can't forget about "school", always striving for the jackpot.

Willie enjoyed long drives and cruises, especially with the love of his life, his children, grandchildren, and his nieces and nephews, Analyn (Jerome) and Joyce (MJ).

He will be remembered most for his fierce love for his family, his happy go lucky attitude, and his ability to make everyone smile.

Besides his loving wife Restituta, Willie is survived by his son Joshua Ramos, (Claireen Calimlim) of Calgary, AB, daughters, Roanne Ramos Asis, (Jason), of Calgary, AB and Carla Ramos, (Matthew Bentrovato), of Calgary, AB; and grandchildren, Noah Asis, Delilah Asis, Alexis Lomada, and Jourdyn Lomada. Willie also leaves behind his brothers, Reynaldo Ramos, Ferdinand Ramos (Amelia), Diosdado Ramos (Jocelyn), Ricardo Jr. Ramos (Gizelle), and Jerry Ramos (Marivic); sister Zenaida Alquero (Narciso), as well as numerous extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his mother Nora Ramos, father Ricardo Ramos, and brother Rolando Ramos.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas More Catholic Church (15 Templebow Road N.E., Calgary, AB) on Friday, August 27, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. 

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel Of The Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB) on Friday, August 27, 2021 from 3:00 to 8:30 p.m. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mr. Ramos’ Public Farewell streamed live (see below) on the day of the service.
