Obituary of Maria Fehr

April 14, 1934 – Blumenthal, Saskatchewan

August 26, 2021– Calgary, Alberta

Maria Fehr of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2021, at the age of 87 years.

Maria was born in Blumenthal, SK, on April 14, 1934, to parents, Jacob and Maria Harder. Maria was born into a large family and was blessed with many siblings. Maria married Jacob Fehr, and together they started their own tree in the family forest. Maria accomplished much through her life and was particularly proud of her family. Maria had a passion for any type of craft, she loved to crochet, paint, sew, and created the most beautiful quilts. Maria’s most memorable vacation was camping with the family.

Maria is survived by her five daughters and their partners, Viola Fehr and Raymond, Iris and Garth Meldrum, Velma and Tyler Tollefson, Loretta Fehr and Andrew, and Judith Dueck; four sons and their partners, Deidrich Fehr and Jean, William Fehr and Cindy, Kevin Fehr and KristyLee, and David Fehr; thirty-one grandchildren, and thirty-three great-grandchildren. Maria is also survived by her two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Jake and Nettie Harder, Abe and Sarah Harder; eight sisters and five brothers-in-law, Justina and Pete Guinter, Eva and Pete Geisbrecht, Anne and John Braun, Nora and Bob Halladay, Sally and Tom Popoff, Hellen Friesen, Guertrude Klassen, and Margaret Derkson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Maria was predeceased by her loving husband Jacob.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 3, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mrs. Fehr’s service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service.
