Obituary of Brittany Lauren Krpan

November 11, 1997 – Calgary, Alberta
August 26, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Brittany Lauren Krpan of Calgary, Alberta, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at the age of 23 years.

She was born in Calgary, Alberta, on November 11, 1997, and attended Monsignor E.L. Doyle Elementary School, St. Vincent de Paul Junior High School, and Bowness High School.  From early on Britty was involved in drama, community and musical theatre, singing lessons and of course, her dance. She participated in tap dance, jazz, modern dance and later in competitive hip hop.  Pure and simple, Britty loved expressing herself through the arts.  As time passed she also found a natural affinity for playing keyboards and the guitar.

Brittany will be remembered as one of the sweetest, caring, and most genuine people one could ever meet.  Everyone who met her loved her and her infectious spirit.  She was an “old soul” who lived an ultra hip lifestyle, and found time to connect with a wide range of age groups.  She spread her kindness and penchant for easing the pain of others by, among other things, volunteering at a home for the elderly.

Something that brought immense joy to her short life was her cat Roxy. It was common to hear Britty talking to Roxy in her “kitty voice” whenever the two of them were together. To add to Britty's humanity, she cared for and fed about twelve neighborhood cats and knew where each was on her walking route. She would often leave food dishes out where she knew they might be, or bring treats with her on her walks.  It speaks to both Britty's quirkiness and her own personal style of being a caregiver.

Brittany is survived by her mother Cathy, her father John and his wife Janice; her sister Chelsea (Justin); and brother Tyler; her grandfathers, John Krpan and Dave Bohlken; stepsister Kimberly; and much loved nephew Jackson.  She is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins and friends in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, British Columbia, and Kirkland, Washington.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Condolences, memories and photos can also be shared and viewed here.

In living memory of Brittany Krpan, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Crowfoot, 82 CROWFOOT CIRCLE NW, CALGARY, AB T3G 2T3, Telephone: 403-241-0044.
