Bert Kent, beloved husband of Hazel Kent of Calgary, AB passed away on Monday, August 30, 2021 at the age of 78 years.
 
Bert was born in Belloy, AB, on September 29, 1942. In 1964, Bert and Hazel were married in Edmonton, AB. In 1967, Bert and Hazel moved their young family to Kingston, ON, so Bert could attend Queen’s University where he graduated, with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree, with honours. After university, Bert and Hazel relocated to Calgary, AB, where Bert was employed at the CIBC for thirty-seven years. The Kents' moved to the Lakeview community in 1971, remaining in the same home for fifty years. Bert enjoyed coaching and watching hockey, watching and playing golf, watching curling, sketching, and tending to his large garden. Bert will also be remembered for his love of cars and the large amount of cars he owned throughout his lifetime. One of Bert’s greatest joys was being a musician. He was in numerous bands, most recently Bobcat Logic, who were together for approximately twenty-five years. Friendships made with his bandmates lasted a lifetime. In retirement, Bert was a very sought-after entertainer at various care homes in and around Calgary. Bert will be fondly remembered by his friends and family for his endless generosity and selflessness. He had a warm and welcoming smile, a great personality, a giving nature and would help others whenever possible. Bert liked to travel, and some memorable vacations were camping trips with family and friends, vacations in Mexico, Nevada, Florida, California, Coeur d’alene and most recently Vancouver Island.
 
Besides his loving wife Hazel of fifty-seven years, Bert is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Shelley and Lou; brother and sister-in-law, Lee and Inge; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Bert was predeceased by his beloved son Wes Kent, parents, Henry and Roa (nee Chapman) Kent; two brothers, Chester Kent and Ben Kent; and two sisters, Mona Howard and Ali Becker.
 
A Celebration of Bert’s Life will be announced by the family at a later date. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed here. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made in Bert’s name to a charity of their choice.
