Obituary of Renée Barton

April 25, 1960 – Lethbridge, Alberta

September 2, 2021 – Okotoks, Alberta

Renée Barton passed peacefully into the loving arms of the Lord on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at the age of 61 years after a courageous battle with cancer.

Honest, brave, and compassionate, Renée embraced life. Her spirit will live on with her family and friends who shared countless memories with her: hitting the ski hill, playing a round of golf, summer vacationing in the Okanagan, baking a fresh pie, walking the dog, travelling to Hawaii, Europe, and many other destinations. She had a fulfilling career and was blessed to have co-workers become some of her dearest friends.

Renée’s faith carried her throughout her life. The gift of friends and family who supported her with selfless acts of kindness, generosity and service is very much appreciated. Her family is grateful for the excellent care offered by the staff of the Foothills Country Hospice, where Renée spent her final days at peace surrounded by loved ones and her favourite sights, including a view of the rolling prairies and mountains.

Renée is survived by her son Richard, her greatest blessing and joy; her mother Mary Barton; her sister, Carol Hooper (Greg) and nieces Lauren and Nicolette Hooper; stepmother Evelyn Barton; and her aunts and cousins.  She was a loving mother to her dog, Bodhi, and a tremendous friend to many. She was predeceased by her father, Richard Barton.

A Private Family Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. Friends are invited to join Renée’s service streamed live at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTT5CU9SGuc on the day of the service. A Celebration of Renée’s Life will be held at a later date for all of her family and friends.
