Obituary of Athanasios Tommy Antonopoulos

September 18, 1974 – Calgary, Alberta

September 2, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Tom Antonopoulos, born September 18, 1974. Sadly, his soul left this earth on Thursday, September 2, 2021.

We all were blessed to have known Tom, a.k.a Tommy or TJ. For those that spent time with him are reminded of his kind-heart and as someone who treated everyone with dignity and respect. His cool, relaxed and easy-going attitude combined with his humorous wit and boyhood charm touched the hearts of everyone who were lucky enough to have met him. Tom’s charismatic and welcoming nature made everyone around him feel at ease. His never-ending compassion uplifted people when they were down and encouraged those around him to live life to the fullest. Tom took pride in everything he did. He enjoyed bringing people together though his passion of food, always adding his extra ingredient of love and presenting it with his larger than life personality. Above all, Tom never gave up. To being the smallest kid on the ice and getting knocked down, Tom always got up. To moving his family to different cities to start new businesses, Tom persevered. He kept pursuing his goals to give a better life for his family. He was always ready to take any risk that life threw at him. His dreams were big and so was his confidence, he may have been small in stature however his drive made him a Titan. With a natural zest for life, TJ also had a wild side made of fierce courage. Freedom was a full tank and riding his Harley with a t-shirt and no helmet was a testament to his trusting character. A true badass with a heart of gold. May you be riding free, with the wind in your hair on the Highway to Heaven leaving the struggles of this life in your dust.

Ride on Tom, Ride on.

He is survived by his beautiful children, whom he loved with every ounce of his being, his loving parents, his brother, his large extended family and by his plentiful friends from all walks of life.

No words can express the sadness we all feel. Tom had so many people that loved him but unfortunately due to Covid and immune compromised family members the in-person service will only be for family and close friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Tommy’s service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted. Condolences, memories and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
