Obituary of Beric EVANS

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Beric J Evans beloved husband of Carolyn Evans (nee Baldwin) of Calgary, AB, on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at the age of 68 years. He passed away at home peacefully after a brave journey with brain cancer.

Beric was a loving husband, son, father, grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle, great uncle, colleague, neighbour, mentor and friend who will be remembered for his brilliant mind, sense of humour, wit, his gentle kindness and dedication to those he loved. Beric was born in Luton England on May 20, 1953. He immigrated to Canada when he was six years old. Beric married Carolyn Joan Baldwin in 1977 and they were married for forty-four years. Life will never be the same without him. He graduated from the University of Calgary with a degree in Geophysics in 1983. He had a productive life, an interesting and rewarding career in oil and gas exploration. Beric was a long-time member of the Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA). He accomplished much through his life and was particularly proud of his three kids and three grandsons. He was an outdoor enthusiast. He enjoyed hiking in the mountains and loved to play golf. In his younger years, he played rugby for the Calgary Hornets Football Club. His other favourite sports included hiking, fishing, kayaking, cross country skiing and scuba diving. He treasured family vacations the most. Beric and Carolyn’s favourite vacations were diving trips that took them all over the world with friends.

Besides his loving wife Carolyn, Beric is survived by his mother Molly and his children, Gareth (Sarah), Sarah (Matthew) and Cody (Carly Elizabeth). His grandchildren, Thomas, Bennett and Hunter will miss their Grampa and Bapaa very much. Beric is also survived by his brothers-in-law, Kim Baldwin and Gordon Baldwin; his sister-in-law Sheila, nephews, Scott Baldwin (Kathleen), Nicholas Baldwin (Jillian), William Baldwin and Kevin Baldwin; and niece Lauren Baldwin/Hamilton (Garrett). Beric was a great-uncle to Ingrid, Frederick, Isla, Maxwell, Adeline and Della. Beric leaves behind numerous cousins from England and Wales who were dear to him.
Beric was predeceased by his father Aubrey (Jack) John Evans.
