Obituary of Scott Giles

September 28, 1973– Prince Albert, SK

September 10, 2021 – Calgary, AB

Scott "Scotty" Giles, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, September 10, 2021, at the age of 47 years.

Scott grew up in Saskatchewan and Alberta as he moved with his family while he was young. Settling in Calgary in February 1990, Scott immediately was drawn to, what would become his first love, the Dairy Queen. Scott worked for a time at the DQ and then left to see if the grass was greener elsewhere. It wasn’t for Scott. He quickly went back to the Dairy Queen and never looked back. Scott worked his way through the business, learning and growing, getting promoted and finally getting to own two stores, with his long-time business partner Ali Giles. Scott was very proud of their stores and was very savvy at running the businesses, even through the pandemic.

Scott was an avid golfer who could bore anyone with the golf highlights of the day. Football was another love of Scott’s, attending as many Stampeders games as possible, he was always up to cheer on “his team”.  Scott was really drawn to anything social, people, the conversation, and the laughs.

Scott leaves behind his mother and father Dale and Patricia (Sterling) Giles of Calgary AB; brother Kelly (Heather) Giles, Kelly’s children Eric, Jonas, and Katelyn Giles of Prince Albert, SK; brother DJ (Christa) Giles and their children Jenner (Angie) and Lewey Giles of Chestermere, AB; as well as a seemingly endless family and friends. He loved his family very much.

A Celebration of Life will be held  at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Deerfoot South, 12281 – 40th Street SE, Calgary, AB) on Friday, September 17, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. After the service the family would like to invite everyone to stay for a reception, to visit, share stories and catch up with Scotty's friends.
