Obituary of Margaret Eleanor Osborne nee Sherwood

February 27, 1929 - Nelson, Ontario

September 17, 2021 - Calgary, Alberta

Margaret Osborne (Mardi) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, September 17, 2021 at the age of 92 years.

Mardi was born in Nelson, ON, on February 27, 1929. She married Carman Osborne in 1950. She moved to Calgary, AB, in 1981. Mardi accomplished much through her life. She was particularly proud of her seven children and eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Mardi will be most remembered for her sense of independence. She felt that just “because you’ve chosen a life partner, you don’t need to live in their back pocket”. She worked throughout her entire life, raising children and beyond. She earned a degree in Interior Design through correspondence courses and worked in sales for several department stores before starting her own business. She loved to cook and bake. Not unusual for her to show up and pick raspberries in the afternoon and arrive next day with a berry pie. She also loved her canning and preserving of which we all shared in. We miss her already.

Mardi is survived by her three daughters and their families, Marcia Osborne of Calgary, AB; Kimberly Graham (William) of Bandan, Oregon and her children, Ekota and Caleb; and Carol Mason (Todd) of Listowel, ON, and her children Amber, Keenan and Lauren and their children; four sons and their families, Mark (Luke) Osborne (Brenda) of Maynardville, Tennessee; Lorrie Osborne (Deborah) of Bayfield, ON, and their children; Rhyder and Dane and their children; Bryce Osborne (Evan Hayko) of Calgary, AB, and their children Eric and Kayla; Noel Osborne of Tiverton, ON, and his children, Josh and Eli; and ten great-grandchildren.

Mardi was predeceased by her husband Carman Osborne, parents, George and Owna Sherwood; bothers and sisters, Marion Forsyth, Edgar Sherwood, Thompson Sherwood, and Grace Crawford.

In living memory of Margaret Osborne, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB T2S 2L5, Telephone: 403-243-8200.
