Obituary of Sharon Godbout

Sharon Godbout, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at the age of 74 years.

As a young teen she was employed at her uncle’s motel cleaning cabins, later she enjoyed setting bowling pins at the neighbourhood bowling alley. Sharon was always career oriented and while married and raising her family she was employed at several jobs such as the casket company of Alberta and Canadian Linen.

As her children grew she attained employment with the Alberta School Board as a Teaching Assistant, lending support in the school where needed. Like her daughter Muffey she helped at Second Chance Furniture owned by uncle John and aunt Linda Feeney. When her ex-husband Don started a used car business she went to work with him for many years; later  retiring in Claresholm, AB.

Mom was always so proud of her children’s successes; especially when her last child was to graduate. Later as she welcomed her grandchildren, she could be herd bragging to all who would listen and introducing them to everyone. While she travelled to many provinces with her racehorses, her favourite trip was taken while retired in Claresholm. Sharon, with a group of friends, travelled to Spokane, to board a cruise to Alaska. A great time was had by all. For years, Sharon was an avid artist; in her retirement, she entered several county fairs and won ribbons for her work.

Sharon is survived by her sons, Cory and Johnny Godbout; her daughter Carol (Mark McKervey); eleven grandchildren, Beau, Maximilian, Jessica, Irene, Virginia, Laura, Lucy, Arthur McKervey, Connor, Ashton, Liberty, and Carsyn Godbout; her brother Eddie Boucher; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Sharon was predeceased by her daughter Melody Godbout; her parents, Sophie Divel and Ronald Kerntoph; her twin sister Sheila Jerrick and brother Richard Kerntoph.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated St. Dennis Church (4718 Worcester Drive S.W., Calgary, AB) on Monday, September 27, 2021 at 10:00 a.m.  Graveside Service to follow at Rocky View Garden of Peace Cemetery.  A Celebration Reception of Sharon's Life will be held at a later date.
