Obituary of Teresita Ramirez Umali

Teresita Umali, of Calgary, AB passed away on Sunday, September 19, 2021, at the age of 85 years.

Teresita was born in Cabuyao, Laguna, Philippines on May 1, 1936. She immigrated to Calgary, AB, on January 21, 2011. Teresita graduated from Far Eastern University with a degree in Commerce Major in Banking and Finance. She was a member of the Golden Generation Seniors Club. Teresita married Valentin on January 1, 1968. She loved cooking for her family and friends. Teresita enjoyed family reunions during Christmas, New Year, and birthdays of her children and grandchildren. She will be most remembered for her kindness and the light she brought into our lives.

Teresita is survived by her two daughters and their partners, Maritess Umali and Marjun Santos of Calgary, AB, and Francesa Del Mundo and Edmund Del Mundo of Calgary, AB; one son and daughter-in-law Valentin Umali Jr. and Cornelia Umali of Calgary, AB; and her seven grandchildren, Allen, Kiel, Briana, James, Jillian, Enzo, and Zoie, all of Calgary, AB. Teresita is also survived by her sister Eufrocina Mitropoulos, and Dimitri, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. 

Teresita was predeceased by her loving husband Valentin Umali Sr., parents, Angel and Francisca; four brothers, Enrique, Alfredo, Benjamin, and Romulo; and two sisters Loreto and Consolacion.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Deerfoot South, 12281 – 40th Street SE, Calgary, AB) on Sunday, September 26, 2021, from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. with Prayers and Tributes at 7:00 p.m. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mrs. Umali’s Visitation and Prayer services streamed live (see below) on Sunday, September 26, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted. Those attending will be asked to confirm one of the following, (A) COVID vaccination (date requested), OR (B) a negative COVID test (within 72 hours), OR (C) Medical exemption OR (D) Under 12 years of age.    

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church (10 Prestwick Drive S.E., Calgary AB) on Monday, September 27, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed here.
