Obituary of Maria Inés SAEZ (nee Vial)

July 27, 1935 - Punta Cortez, Rancagua, Chile
September 23, 2021 - Calgary, Alberta

Inés Saez, beloved wife of Jorge Saez of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at the age of 86 years.

Inés was born to Rosa Melania Vial Blanco and Carlos Alberto Vial Correa on July 27, 1935 in Punta Cortez, Rancagua Chile. Her childhood was spent in El Monte, Chile, where she played and got into all sorts of mischief on the family farm with her siblings. She was the third eldest of six children; Carlos, Julio, Inés, Ricardo, Ramon and Rosa. The farm was a perfect place for her to find her love and talent for gardening and herbal medicine, which only flourished and developed as she got older. In her early twenties she moved to Santiago and lived with her aunt Inés Vial Correa and uncle Daniel Santelices who simply adored her for her sweet, kind and gentle nature. There she worked as an administrator for the Civil Registry.  It was through a mutual friend in Santiago that she would meet her husband to be, Jorge Saez. Inés  chased her dreams and created a beautiful life with her husband Jorge. They immigrated to Calgary, AB, in 1975 and together they built a successful Janitorial and Trucking busInés s which allowed them to travel through various places in Canada, United States and Chile, eventually settling to live half the year in Calgary and the other half in Chile. In both homes, Inés  created beautiful gardens that she loved so much always surrounded by family and friends. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Inés  and she had an incredible capacity to draw people in and relished in being a loving, fun aunt, faithful friend and loyal loving wife. She loved a day or evening with friends and family sharing in good food, music and laughter. She also loved reading, walking, shopping, trying new things and meeting new people. Another great joy, for Inés , was gardening and having a very active role at the Lomqimay Chapel in El Quisco, Chile. Where she had the opportunity to help and support community members in need. She simply loved life and fully participating in it. She had the patience of a saint and an unwavering faith that could move mountains (we’re sure) because her determination was coupled with an eternal optimism, anything was possible in her eyes.

Inés  is survived by her husband, Jorge Saez, of forty-nine years, her youngest brother Ramon, a plethora of nieces, nephews and friends both in Calgary and Chile who simply adored her.

Thank you Inés  for adding so much beauty to all our lives.
