Obituary of Shyla Marina Jane Black Horse

September 23, 1991 – Strathmore, Alberta

September 21, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Our hearts weep with sorrow for the sudden passing of my precious beautiful daughter, Shyla Black Horse, my best friend, happily reunited with her dad and brother in heaven. 

Shyla made her Cursillo in Siksika and very much believed in the cultural way of life. Shyla was very friendly, with a sense of humour to all who knew her. The besties who grew up with her knew her unique laughter. Her besties would do her chores without mom knowing. Shyla received her education in Siksika and Medicine Hat. She loved music, she had a passion for beading and was eager to teach her cuz Sherry Yellowfly.

Shyla will be lovingly remembered by her precious daughters, Dayla, and Dayzie; and will be dearly missed by her mom Debbie, brothers, Keivin, and Brennan (Thrista) Yellowfly. Along with aunties, Floria, Joy, Polly, Sally, Marisa (Dan), Delphine, and Della (Jerome); and uncles, Eugene, and Leonard (Rhoda). Shyla resided in Siksika and Calgary with the love of her life Jason Lerat.

Wake Services will be held at the residence of Debbie Yellowfly (Siksika Nation, AB) on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at 4:00 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Catholic Church (Box 204, Cluny AB) on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Paul Little Walker Cemetery (Siksika Nation, AB).  Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed here.
