Obituary of Karen Elizabeth Morris nee Weleschuk

Karen Morris, beloved wife of Mark Morris, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at the age of 56 years.

Karen was born in Calgary, AB on March 28, 1965. She graduated from the University of Calgary with a bachelor’s degree in political science, and then attended Georgetown University in Washington, DC where she achieved her master’s designation.

Karen enjoyed many adventures and travels in her life, and had a love of music and art. She had a great eye for photography, and her photographs can be seen gracing many walls and shelves. Karen loved her family deeply, loved to laugh, had a kind heart and soul, and was always putting others ahead of herself.

Karen and Mark shared a committed relationship for many years before deciding to marry on the beach in Hawaii in 2016.

Besides her loving husband, Karen is survived by her daughter Emily Jean and fiancé Cody Pawlechko of Calgary, AB; stepdaughter Avalon Morris of Tsawwassen, BC; and stepson Noel Morris and his wife Nicole and grandchild Riley George of Calgary, AB.

Karen is also survived by her parents, Sophia and Peter Weleschuk of Calgary, AB; two sisters, Lisa Manitopyes-Weleschuk and husband Alvin, and Brenda Tink of Calgary AB; brother-in-law Carmen Morris and wife Lori of Calgary, AB; sisters-in-law Cynthia O’Donnell and husband Ross of Calgary, AB; Beverley Garbutt and husband Allan of Cowley, AB; Pamela Morrow and husband Kirby of Vancouver, BC; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and her best four legged friend, Sookie. 

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
