Condolences
Dear Aunt Margaret,
I never met you but knew you when I first laid eyes on your pictures. You were an Aunt I never knew. I wish I had, I wish everyone had. Life would have been different. But it is what it is and the events that happened can never be changed. We are all greatful the the search and find Sherlock you have in the family. Being a Vet she must have locked in on the scents/ clues. Thank you Ann Marie for your love and determination to show your Grandmother the love you bonded together.
I would have to say it was one of the nicest obits I have ever read. The fact that it is the first time her name was mentioned on the internet made her a star from your love and words. She was very lucky to have been given up by an old woman who made life so hard for her sisters. We will never know the facts but your mom broke a cycle of abuse and abandonment.
Oh last thing, when I first found out about my Aunt, I wanted to send something that as made by myself. I made Aunt Margaret a card and have not stopped making cards since. They are the universe's way of telling you to do what you love.
Your niece, Barb
Brian and Jane, I am so sorry for your loss. You and your family are in my prayers.
An amazing obituary for an amazing woman . . .
I had the distinct pleasure of knowing Marg over several years. Initially, our contact was through working at the Bay. I was in my late teens and trying to sort out who I was and where I was going in life. We "clicked" and began an ongoing friendship, and mentorship on her part. She guided me through the retail maze and through some "growing pains" that life presents us with. There was even a further parallel when my parent's marriage dissolved while hers was ending. She was a superb listener, a straight shooter, and a compassionate confidant. I am grateful for her part in shaping the person I became.
As the years rolled by with my marriage, education, and children, we communicated very little. However, each encounter was just like old times and picking up from where we left off. Fortunately, she moved into the Landmark complex where my mother was living for several years. That gave us the opportunity to see each other occasionally. That opportunity continued after my mother's passing. We became absentee landlords and our daughter purchased a suite there as well - affording further encounters with Marg.
My wife, Judy, and I send sincere condolences to Marg's many family members. She was a precious person . . . like the lyrics in an old Perry Como song . . . "and just like your mother. You can't buy another. If you had all the world and its gold."
I wish to express my deepest condolences to Carol, Brian and their families on the passing of their beloved mother and grandmother, Margaret. Margaret met me while I was still a baby in Montreal when she was with Ken, my first cousin and Godfather. I wish I had known her as she was a lady with many gifts and talents. My mother spoke of her through the years. All our love, Janet and Yvonne Neatby
It was a pleasure to meet and know Margaret through the White Hat volunteer program at the Calgary airport. I was the new manager coming in after the founder, Elizabeth. Margaret was kind and supportive and helped me learn the ropes. We had numerous conversations about her life and family. She had a warm smile, a kind heart and a wonderful sense of humour.
Sending our deepest condolences. May your treasured memories comfort you in the days ahead.
Big hugs from Debbie and Brian Stahl
I used to live at Rockyridge Retirement residence and I was close with Margaret. I would like to pass along my sincere condolences to the family and my thoughts are with you during this difficult time. Edith Schroder
I loved hearing your own story while waiting for passengers coming from Montreal.
Margaret - Rest in Peace My Dear Friend.
You were a Special Friend to all us Friday Morning Whitehatters - we had such good times. I am sad that I will never be able to visit and have a conversation with you anymore. You will never be forgotten as I have our good times etched in my heart. When you took me to Jasper on the Senior's Getaway with you - I enjoyed our time together. We got together when Muriel Hein, Marge Masson, Jean Debruyn, and myself came to visit you at Rocky Ridge Retirement Home and then Muriel Passed Away so then the last time we got together, it was Marge Masson, Jean DeBruyn. Pat Gutierrez and myself came with a Birthday Cake for you to the Rocky Ridge Retirement Home. We had such a fun time.
We had nice visits and all of us enjoyed them. You were Loved by all of us Margaret and you will always be remembered as you were a Very Special Friend..
Love Lois Gatcha
