Obituary of Berkeley Albert Davidson

September 12, 1939 – Drumheller, Alberta
September 26, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

At the age of 82 years, Berkeley passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2021 in Calgary, Alberta.

Born September 12, 1939 in Drumheller, Alberta, he was the oldest son of Maude and Frank Davidson of Morrin, Alberta. Berkeley grew up in Morrin, Alberta, working in the family electronics store installing TV antennas throughout the surrounding communities. He then received his electronics degree from SAIT in 1960. That same year he married his sweetheart Alison Cooper on June 10 1960, and moved to Lloydminster to help set up their first television station.
He then took a job at CFCN television in Calgary for a few years before accepting a position at Alberta Government Telephones for the next 30 years. He also volunteered for the United Way raising funds for various causes. Well know for his great sense of humour and love of a good practical joke, he had an amazing way with people.

Retiring at 53, he and Alison enjoyed traveling to many places, their favourite being Maui where they spent many a wonderful family holiday over the years. Berkeley enjoyed camping, fishing, swimming, and was a certified diver. He mostly enjoyed woodworking, making keepsakes for his family. Berkeley had an extra special relationship with his grandchildren and was always there to support them in all their endeavours.

Beloved husband and best friend of Alison (nee Cooper) of Calgary, he was father to Heather, Scott (Kris), and Faye (Tyler); also known as Grampy Berkeley, he was grandfather to Lucas, Jayden, Wyatt, and Brayden. He will also be lovingly remembered by sister Beryl Halvorsen, brother Brian (Terry), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Berkeley was predeceased by his parents Maude and Frank Davidson, and brother-in-law Sid Halvorsen.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

The family would like to express their immense appreciation to the staff at Bethany Calgary, 8th Floor, for the amazing care Berkeley received the past few years. This quarantine has been extremely difficult on everyone but knowing your loved one is being looked after by such a caring staff is a great relief.
