Tyson Mckinnon

Obituary of Tyson Hugh Neil Mckinnon

November 14, 2000 – Calgary, Alberta

September 27, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Our family has suffered an unimaginable tragedy. On Monday morning, our son Tyson made the incredibly sad decision to end his life. For those who were close to him, he’s been struggling for the past couple of years. As devastating as this news is, at least we can take comfort knowing that Tyson is at peace.

Losing a loved one is never easy. Losing someone you love to depression is an especially complicated kind of grief.

As survivors of a tragedy like this, we’re often left feeling as though we’ve somehow failed. We wonder how we could have changed things. Sadly, in this case we couldn’t.

Tyson was a beacon of love and light. He was a kind, considerate young man with a life filled with promise. Unfortunately, sometimes personal demons can mask even the most brilliant futures.

While we are still reeling from this news, it is our hope that we can appreciate Tyson’s time with us for the gift that it was. And it truly was the greatest gift.
