Cheryl was born on July 15, 1955 in Regina, Saskatchewan. She and her brother grew up in a loving home in the Southey area, with Cheryl excelling in her academic studies while also enjoying extra curricular activities such as being a member of the Girl Guides and playing for the school basketball team. Cheryl was also a fierce advocate for her daughter Erin, working tirelessly to find placements in special needs programs and supporting her Special Olympics athletics. Sharing good times with her family and her large network of close friends was always what brought Cheryl the most joy.Cheryl was passionate about being a member of Calgary's Sistership Dragon Boat Association, spending twelve years as an active paddler and serving two years on the Board of Directors. She loved the camaraderie and reveled in the excitement of racing on the open water. She shared many good laughs with her Sisters on their many adventures, with her sense of humour always shining through and proving that she was never above poking fun at herself. She was a light in the lives of everyone who had the good fortune of knowing her.
