Hazel Misuraca

Obituary of Hazel Muriel Misuraca

March 15, 1934 - Blairmore, Alberta

October 17, 2021 - Calgary, Alberta

Hazel Muriel Misuraca (nee Ennis), beloved wife of Armand Misuraca of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully to join many of her loved ones in Heaven on Sunday, October 17, 2021, at the age of 87 years.

Born in Blairmore, AB, Hazel was the youngest of her siblings and was well known for her strong pinch, which earned her the nickname of “Bumblebee”. Of course, being the baby sister, she had to find some way to keep her older siblings in line. In high school Hazel met a dark and handsome lad, Mex, who she went on to marry and have three darling children with; all of whom carry on her most admirable qualities. Throughout her life Hazel was selfless in every role she had: daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, nana, cousin, friend and neighbour. She is remembered for her nurturing soul, generously taking care of all of those around her, including her furry and feathered friends in the backyard.  Her kindness was unconditional, and her warmth will continue to be felt by all who knew and loved her. We hope that whenever you make your family a wonderful meal, hit the jackpot at the slots, or sneak a bit of your favourite chocolate bar you’ll lovingly remember Hazel and feel her warmth too.

Hazel is survived by her beloved husband Armand, also known as Mex, of sixty-five years and she is lovingly remembered by her sons, David and Jim; daughter and son-in-law Beverly and Kevin; and her grandchildren, Sean (Carly), Andrea and Janine. She is also survived by her sister and best friend Virginia, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Jean Ennis; her brother Louis (Raymonde) Ennis, and sister Jean (Marcel) Desharmais.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Gerard’s Catholic Church (8944 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Friday, October 29, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. There will be no reception following the service.
