October 20, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Nancy Marlene Warren, of Calgary, AB, left us on Saturday, October 20, 2021, at the age of 75 years.

Marlene was born in Calgary, AB, on November 23, 1945, the youngest of three children from her mom’s second marriage. After graduating from the University of Calgary, she was a Junior High math teacher with the CBE for 30 years. She was an independent and adventurous woman and traveled through the Mediterranean and Caribbean and spent many summers in Greece. After 30 years of teaching, she retired early, went often with friends to Mexico, and enjoyed trips to Las Vegas. She was generous with her time, organizing volunteers for Canyon Meadows bingos, and had great friendships with the volunteers. She enjoyed bridge with two groups, one of them for 35 years, where she would bring her mother’s famous cinnamon buns and butter tarts. She enjoyed many lunch dates with friends.  People remember Marlene as quiet, determined, organized, intelligent, devoted, open-minded, kind, inquisitive and a very good friend. She was a great fan of Spock, Neil Diamond and Cats. She donated to many charities and always won at cribbage.

Nancy is deeply missed by her niece Kitty Cochrane, grandniece Gwenna, and Greg Halinda of Fort McMurray. She is remembered by Jim and Kathryn Cochrane, and nieces KerryAnn Cochrane, Lee Vincent, Patricia Aspinwall and Christy Yael and many close friends.

Nancy was predeceased by her parents Thomas Evans Warren and Marie Christine Warren (previously Beadle, nee Pihl), sister Gwen Marie Cochrane, and brother Dr. Ronald Evans Warren.
