Obituary of Ingrid Ilse Shepherd

October 21, 2021 - Calgary, Alberta

Ingrid Shepherd, beloved wife of David Mansfield of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at the age of 74 years.

Ingrid was born in Austria and immigrated to Youbou on Lake Cowichan, BC in 1953 with her parents. She graduated from the Lake Cowichan High School and worked in Vancouver before moving to Calgary in 1971. Ingrid enjoyed working in the restaurants and bars where she quickly became a customer favourite for her hard work and friendly personality. Her true artistic talent bloomed when she worked as a florist for Itinerante Flowers in Calgary for fifteen years. Ingrid had many memorable vacations with David including trips to Hawaii, Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta, San Diego, Costa Rica and Liverpool, England. Her favourite singer was Elvis Presley and she also enjoyed Country and Western music.

Besides her loving husband David, Ingrid is survived by her sister Karola Schabernak of Lake Cowichan, BC. She was preceded by her parents, Franz Schabernak and Ilse Schabernak (nee Ott); two brothers, Heimo and Joachim (Kim) Schabernak; sister-in-law Corinne (Gary) of Ladysmith, BC, and nieces, Kelly-Ann, Andrea, and Stefany Schabernak.

A Celebration of Ingrid’s Life will be held at Jameson’s Irish Pub (3790 Brentwood Rd NW, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, November 13, 2021 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Condolences, memories and photos can also be shared and viewed on Ingrid’s obituary at www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
