Martha Schock of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2021, at the age of 71 years.

Martha was born in Didsbury, AB, on June 3, 1950, to parents Benjamin Schock and Lydia Adolf. In her early years, the family moved to Bridgeland, Calgary where Martha continued to reside until her passing. Martha was well-known in Bridgeland and daily, would go to the Bridgeland Market and other favorite shops in the area. Martha graduated from the University of Calgary with a bachelor’s degree in English. It was at school where she developed her love of reading, current affairs, and politics. Martha considered it part of her civic duty to vote and was informed of the issues in each election. Martha was passionate about her church; she never missed her gatherings. She loved to attend weekly services, sing in the choir, and participate in activities such as the potluck suppers. Martha loved watching sports especially the Calgary Flames. She would often end a phone call with “GO Flames GO”. She thoroughly enjoyed attending a Flames game in person and never missed a game on her television. One of Martha’s favorite expressions was “all fine so far”. She often used this expression when asked how she was feeling, or if she was staying healthy and safe.

Martha was predeceased by her parents, Benjamin and Lydia. She will be missed by her church, her community, and her family.

Funeral Services will be held at St. Matthew Lutheran Church on Friday, October 29, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Those attending will be asked to confirm one of the following, (A) COVID vaccination (date requested), OR (B) a negative COVID test (within 72 hours), OR (C) Medical exemption AND valid government identification (with name & date of birth) OR (D) Under 12 years of age.
