Obituary of Marie Veronica Matchett (nee Stein)

Marie Matchett (nee Stein) of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at the age of 90 years.

An extraordinary and accomplished woman, Marie excelled in education as a teacher, principle and university professor. During her life she was well-known in acting circles and enjoyed painting.

Marie and her husband Leland were dedicated to their family; their door was always open. Marie lives on through her three children, William (Kori), Wendy and Sean; her grandchildren, Cara Leigh, Brendan (Melissa), Tiffany, Keely, Sam and the newest family member, Chase, whom she fondly called “Chubby Cheeks”. Her spirit will be carried by her sisters, Agnes, Kathy (Ted), Connie (Howard) and Rita (Rick); as well as by her sisters-in-law, Betty Stein and June Matchett. Marie was blessed with the love of her nieces, Mary-Margaret, Colene, Mary, Barb, Pattie and Linda; nephews, Paul, Michael, Greg and Noel.

To all who loved, cared and helped Marie throughout her life, the family will always be grateful.

She sailed on the tail of the full ‘Hunter Moon’,
collecting what she needed for her sweet journey home.
