Obituary of Ronald Clark

February 6, 1940 Edinburgh, Scotland

November 3, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Ronald Clark, of Calgary AB, passed away on November 3, 2021 at the age of 81 years.

Ron was born in Edinburgh, Scotland on February 6, 1940 where he graduated from the Niddrie Marischal Secondary School. He joined the Royal Engineers in 1957 and was deployed to Christmas Island for the next two years. After his military discharge, he trained as an electrician in Edinburgh and emigrated to Canada after marrying the love of his life, Doris, on September 1, 1962. Their first stop was in Kingston, ON, but later settled in Calgary in 1966 where Ron worked for and later became an owner of Johnson Brothers Electric from 1968 until 1996. He was a 55-year member of the IBEW, as well as an active past master of Canada Lodge #165, and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #285.

Through the years, Ron found enjoyment in many things from rounds of golf to reading to his travels with Doris. Whether it was a weekend in Las Vegas, a Mediterranean cruise, or visiting family back in Scotland, Ron always looked forward getting away from it all. Wherever he was, he was the life of the party and could always be counted on for a good story and lots of fun and laughter.

Though we cannot all come together at this time in remembrance, in our hearts we know that his passing will be honoured by the love, laughter and the many beautiful memories that he shared with his family and friends.

Ronald is survived by his daughter Stacey-Lynn (Ryan) Mullaney of Calgary, AB; his grandchildren, Siobhan Mullaney and Breanna Mullaney of Calgary, AB; his sister Rena (John) McKenzie of Wellesbourne, England, sister-in-law Jessie Clark of Edinburgh, brother-in-law Derek (Janette) Curran of London, England, sister-in-law Jean Curran of Calgary, AB; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Ronald was predeceased by his wife Doris; his parents, Alexandrina, and George Clark; and by his brothers, Charles, George, and Alister.

A Celebration of Ron’s Life is planned for a later date, in the hope that at that time we can all safely gather to share our memories, our joy and our tears. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the charity of your choice. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed here.
