Obituary of Kenneth Healy

Kenneth Healy, F.C.I.S., P. Admin, beloved husband of Ann Healy, of Calgary, AB, passed away at AgeCare Midnapore on Monday, November 8, 2021, at the age of 94 years.
Ken was born in Hayle, Cornwall, England on the January 7, 1927. Educated in England, he joined Anglo-American Oil Co. Ltd. At Berkshire, near Oxford, as an office boy in 1941, and later volunteered and joined the Royal Navy, Portsmouth Division in December 1944, where he qualified and served as a writer. Drafted to the Mediterranean in May 1945, he was shore-based in Valletta, Malta; Messina, Sicily; and Haifa, Palestine; returning to Portsmouth in December 1946. 1n 1954 Ken emigrated from England to Canada, where he spent two years working in Vancouver and subsequently moved to Toronto. He joined BP Canada in Toronto and later worked with BP in Montreal and finally in Calgary where he chose to retire. Ken qualified as an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries (A.C.I.S.) in 1961, later being elected as a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (F.C.I.S.). During his long association with the institute, he served as a member of the Council of the Quebec and Alberta Branches; as a director of the Canadian Division; a member of the Professional Standards Board in Toronto; and as Secretary, Alberta Branch (1986-1994). Ken was also a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Centennial Branch No. 285, where he served as the Executive from 1993 until 2000. During that period, he was primarily Sick Visiting Officer, also having a year as Membership Chairman while also serving in several United Way of Calgary campaigns.
Ken is survived by his loving wife, Ann, who he married in Toronto, ON in 1963; daughter, Christine Brownell of Okotoks, AB; also several cousins in Cornwall, England, Canada and the U.S.A.
Ken’s was a life well lived.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church (1600 Acadia Drive S.E., Calgary, AB) on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside service to follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens.
