Obituary of Debra Kerr

September 24, 1955 - Woodstock, Ontario
November 8, 2021 - Calgary, Alberta

Debra Kerr, beloved wife of Michael Kerr, Calgary, AB, passed away due to complications from multiple sclerosis on Monday, November 8, 2021 at the age of 66 years.

Debra was born in Woodstock, ON, on September 24, 1955. She and Michael moved to Calgary in 1977 and married in 1979. Debra was known for her ready smile and willingness to help anyone in need. She will be most remembered for her generous heart, her strength, resilience, and her kindness. Above all she was devoted to her family.

Along with her loving husband, Debra is survived by her daughter Róisín Kerr (Ian), and her three sons, Christopher (Beth), Brendan (Basia), and Liam (Bailey) of Calgary, AB. She was Beloved Nana to four grandchildren, Norah, Aidan, Saoirse, and Ela. Debra will be missed by her brothers, Wally Easton (Val) and Jamie Easton (Lana); and her sister Cindy Meriam of Ontario; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Debra was predeceased by her father Gerry Easton, her mother Jeannine, and her brother Ricci.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle NW, Calgary, AB) on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. MST / 9:00 p.m. GMT. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Those attending will be required to wear a mask and will be asked to confirm one of the following, (A) COVID vaccination (date requested), OR (B) a negative COVID test (within 72 hours), OR (C) Medical exemption AND valid government identification (with name & date of birth) OR (D) Under 12 years of age.  Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mrs. Kerr’s service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted. Condolences, memories and photos can also be shared and viewed here.

Debra and her daughter Róisín share a love for animals and the volunteer fundraiser work Róisín provides for Pawsitive Match Rescue. In lieu of flowers, Debra's family are asking for donations to be made to Pawsitive Match Rescue, where the funds will be used to save homeless animals and give them a chance at a better life: https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/pawsitive-match-rescue-foundation/p2p/Debra-Kerr/.

In living memory of Debra Kerr, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area.
