Obituary of Kyle Goliss

November 29, 1985 - Calgary, Alberta
November 10, 2021 - Calgary, Alberta

It is with our deepest sorrow to announce Kyle Goliss of Calgary, Alberta was taken from us too soon on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at the age of 35.

Kyle was born in Calgary, AB on November 29, 1985, to Bonnie and Brian Goliss. He graduated from Sir John G. Diefenbaker Highschool in 2004 where he excelled at math and the sciences and enjoyed wrestling and became a certified Scuba diver. After graduation, at the young age of 17, Kyle was accepted to the Canadian Armed Forces for Navel Officer Training and stationed at Saint-John-sur-Richelieu, Quebec. After a year of basic training, Kyle realized the military was not where his passion lies, and he returned to Calgary and completed a Bachelor of Science degree, Environmental Science from the University of Calgary in 2009.

Kyle worked as an environmental consultant, completing reclamation work, until he joined Suncor in 2011, as a buyer in the Supply Chain Services. Kyle supported a number of high-profile maintenance turnarounds in Fort McMurray over the past few years and was recently transitioning to a team to take a new challenge supporting the IT team in Calgary. His supervisor described Kyle as his right-hand guy and the go to buyer for complex work and understanding contracts for Suncor. Kyle had a strong work ethic both in his career and his personal life. He could be counted on to find solutions and get things accomplished, and Kyle enjoyed the challenge of his career. He was a universal blood donor and because of this Kyle was very conscientious to always donate blood. Kyle was also very passionate about the SPCA and gave both in his time and money to help rescued animals out of distress. He was always willing to lend an ear and help those in need. You could always count on Kyle.

Kyle traveled abroad several times and found he loved experiencing new cultures and places. He traveled to southeast Asia several times, as well as Australia, Ecuador and an annual trip Kyle looked forward to in Arizona with his Mom and Lynne. In his calm and serious manner, Kyle always thoroughly enjoyed doing anything with his friends and family.

He bought a house September 2019 and took so much pride in all the improvements he was making. He loved science and chemistry and used them in his wine making and to extract gold into nuggets. When he wasn’t working on his house, Kyle loved to hang out with his brother Kris, his friends, and cousins Adria and Mike or drive to Rocky Mountain House for the weekend with his Dad and Teresa to hike or just be Kyle.

Kyle was an exceptionally kind, gentle, and intelligent young man, with a beautiful smile that was infectious. We will always treasure the time we had with him, although tragically it was entirely much too short. You will forever be in our hearts and memories.

Kyle is survived by his mother Bonnie Steedman (Lynne Callaway) of Cochrane, AB, father Brian Goliss (Teresa Willigar) of Rocky Mountain House, AB, brother Kristopher (Heather) Goliss and children Marius and Lysander of Cochrane, AB,  girlfriend Thu Nguyen of Calgary, AB,  his cat Nero, Aunt Deb Paterson (Bruce McLeod) of Courtenay, BC, Uncle Kirk (Janice) Steedman of Regina, SK, Uncle Derek (Susanne) Steedman, Aunt Debra (Jim) Snowdon, of Edmonton, AB,  numerous cousins and his very large extended family.

A Celebration of Life Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel Of The Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB), on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at 2:00 p.m.  Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
