Obituary of Dave Jardine

December 29, 1942 – Winnipeg, Manitoba

November 6, 2021 – Calgary Alberta

With heavy hearts, we are saddened to announce that David Jardine, beloved husband of Joyce, of Calgary AB, passed away suddenly on Saturday, November 6, 2021, at the age of 78 years.

David was born in Winnipeg, MB on December 29, 1942. He graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and then graduated from the University of Calgary with a Master of Business Administration.

David had a successful 47-year career that started in 1965 at the Manitoba Telephone System. In 1970 he and Joyce moved to Calgary where he spent 18 years with Westronic Inc., becoming president. He then spent the next 25 years as President and Chairman of Telvent North America (formerly Valmet Automation, Neles Automation and Metso Automation, and later Schneider Electric).

David and Joyce were married in 1969. Family was the most important thing in David's life. He would regularly tell anyone who would listen that his greatest accomplishment in life was marrying Joyce and having his two sons. David was fortunate to have travelled the world with work and his family. In retirement, he was happiest at home doting on his wife, and tending to their beautiful yard and home that they lived in together for 49 years. He also loved to spend time visiting his kids and grandkids. David was well known for his second passion and favorite hobby in life, exotic cars and SUVs.

David was one-of-a-kind. He valued relationships, and always invested the time to get to know anyone that he worked with or personally met. He loved to mentor, support, and advise, for which he will be deeply missed.

Besides his loving wife, David is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law, Wesley David Jardine (Andrea), Bradley Peter Jardine (Kathy); five grandchildren, Jack, Ashley, Kinsley, Beau and Quintin, all of Calgary.  David is also survived by his sister Cheryl Look, of Winnipeg, MB, and nephews Jim and David, as well as his sister-in-law, Gloria Sikora (Les), and niece Wendi.

David was predeceased by his mother and father Kathleen May Jardine and William John “Jack” Jardine.

As a close family, we are heartbroken by this loss. David meant the world to us all. Until we meet again, we will think of you every day, and please know how deeply you are loved and missed.
