Obituary of Joseph (Joe) Tinjor Eng

July 7, 1952 - November 12, 2021

Joseph of Calgary, AB passed away from a heart attack while on his way home from dim sum with his wife on Friday, November 12, 2021 at the age of 69 years.

Joe was born in Hong Kong and immigrated to Canada in 1968. He graduated from UBC with a degree in geophysics, minoring in geology, and worked for several years for Amoco and the National Energy Board. He also worked part-time in the Canadian Armed Forces as a Reservist. Joe loved telling jokes and was an avid Canucks fan. He had a big heart and enjoyed serving the seniors at church - checking in on them and picking them up for church. 

He is survived by his wife Barbara, his two children, Stephanie (Kenric) and Melodie (Caleb), and his four grandchildren, Rachel, Markus, Matea, and Emma. Joe also leaves behind his large extended family including his sister Grace (Ken-Yew), three brothers, Kin Shing (Judy), Ken (Doreen), and George (Grace), brother-in-law Andy, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Rebecca. 

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB) on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB) on Friday, November 19, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside service to follow at Queen's Park Cemetery. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join the service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted. Condolences, memories and photos can also be shared and viewed here.

Those attending in person will be asked to confirm one of the following: (A) COVID vaccination (date requested); OR (B) negative COVID test (within 72 hours); or (C) medical exemption AND valid government identification (with name and date of birth); OR (D) under 12 years of age.
