Lanny Hetherington, beloved husband of Wendy Hetherington of Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at the age of 81 years.

Lanny was born in Calgary, Alberta on September 10, 1940. He and Wendy Hetherington were married in 1978. Lanny worked in the glass business for fifty-four years; he owned and operated Stampede Glass for thirty-five years until reaching retirement.   Lanny was a man of the community, volunteering and helping wherever he could. He is a lifetime member of the Chinook Lions Club; additionally, he worked with The Forest Lawn Legion. Lanny loved to camp, go fishing, and socialize with family at the Lake. His most memorable vacation was when he went parasailing in Mexico at the age of 72 years. In all areas of his life, Lanny will be most remembered for his laugh.

Besides his loving wife, Lanny is survived by his three daughters and sons-in-law, Tracy Hetherington, Jamie (Glen Thoma), and Lana (Jason Parsons), Calgary, AB; two sons and daughters-in-law, Randy Hetherington (Irina Horvath) of Calgary, AB; and Landon (Niki Hetherington), of Calgary, AB; eight grandchildren, Chris Scott, Kylie Hanson, Brayden Thoma, Marcus Thoma, Matea Thoma, Preston Parsons, Jessica Thoma, Danica Thoma; as well as  three sisters Diane, Mabel, Melodie; two brothers, Daryl and Duncan. Lanny also leaves behind his extended family and numerous friends.

There will be a private funeral service. A public celebration of life will be held at the Hospitality Centre of McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Eastside, 5388 Memorial Drive NE, Calgary, AB) on Friday, November 26, 2021, at 2:00 pm. Those attending will be asked to confirm one of the following, (A) COVID vaccination (date requested), OR (B) a negative COVID test (within 72 hours), OR (C) Medical exemption AND valid government identification (with name & date of birth) OR (D) Under 12 years of age.
