Obituary of Rebecca Cheryl Chiniquay

Rebecca Cheryl Chiniquay was called home by her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Friday, November 19, 2021 at the age of 61 years.

Rebecca was raised honouring and respecting the traditional teachings from her grandparents. Rebecca was a private, quiet person, humble and kind to all who knew her. She also had a strong Christian faith and loved reading her bible. The 91st Psalm was her favourite scripture. Rebecca devoted her life raising her family and grandchildren, and loved and enjoyed their company. According to her children, Rebecca spent a great deal of her time teaching her family the significance of bible teachings. Her earliest years, she received her education at Morley Residential School, and continued on to the Morley School. Her employment includes doing custodial work and housekeeping. Rebecca was raised with various cousins and had great friendships that lasted a lifetime. 

Rebecca leaves behind her loving mother, Helene, sisters, Geraldine and Marcie (Peter); her children, Tiffany (Japheth), Melanie, Tanzis (Tyren), Alan Jr. (Sheena), Chivez (Katie); 24 grandchildren; Bo Jason, a special grandson whom she raised; two special nephews, Travis and Chad; aunts, Helen, Eva, Corrina (Lenny), Winnie, Margery; uncles, Norman, Paul, Frank; sisters-in-law, Erna and Vicky from Paul Band. 

She is also survived by relatives from Chiniquay, Baptiste, Holloway, Kaquitts, Mark, Simeon, Crawler, Wesley, Twoyoungman, Powderface, Benjamin, Dixon, and in-laws from the Paul Band and James family.

She was predeceased by her late father Jimmy Alex Baptiste, brothers, Jimmy, Tommy; Sister Michelle; maternal grandparents, Johnny and Sara Chiniquay; and paternal grandparents, Alex and Lily Baptiste; niece Disteny; and nephew Javen.

Wake Services will be held at the residence of Helene Chiniquay (Morley, AB) on Thursday, November 25, 2021.  Funeral Services will be held at the residence of Helene Chiniquay (Morley, AB) on Friday, November 26, 2021 at 12:00 p.m.  Graveside Service to follow at Chiniki Cemetery (Morley, AB).  Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Rebecca’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
