Obituary of Alexander George Wright

Alexander Wright of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 22, 2021 at the age of 74 years with family by his side following a brief but courageous battle with metastatic lung cancer. 

Sandy was born in Calgary on October 8, 1947. He called Calgary home but considered the mountains as his second home. He accomplished much through his life and was particularly proud of the achievements of his children. Sandy loved being around animals, and always had a doggie treat in his pocket. He had a passion for fishing and being outside and was always on the go. His family joked he could never sit still long enough to even watch a movie.

Sandy will be most remembered for his caring and generous heart and his willingness to always help those in need. He will be remembered by his children for his patience and will be remembered always for teaching them how to hold a fishing rod, to seek the joy and peace the mountains bring, and to enjoy life for all it has to offer. 

Sandy is survived by his daughters, Jessica (James), and Kyrsten (Glen); and son Keegan. He is survived also by his sister Sandra (Burt), and granddaughters, Allison and Cassandra. He was predeceased by his father Alexander “Bub”, and mother Freda. 

The family wishes to thank the generous and kind staff of Foothills Medical Centre Unit 32 and Agape Hospice for taking such great care of Sandy.

In living memory of Sandy Wright, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes.
