Condolences
Darwin Risdon was a good and gentle man who made my life and the lives of so many others a bit sunnier and certainly more interesting. When I think of Darwin in future I will picture him trudging up the road in front of my home, walking stick in hand, with his trusty sidekick Bernie at his side. What a quality guy he was, and what a sad loss for all who knew him and loved him.
Maxine and I extend our heartfelt condolences to Palila, Zack, and Sarah. Glen Leinweber
My condolences to all of Darwin’s loved ones. He clearly meant many things to many people. I last saw my uncle when he came to visit my dad in hospital in Calgary. He was unfailingly kind and thoughtful to his sister and brother-in-law during a very trying time. I am sorry to see him gone too soon. May he rest in peace.
Palila, Zachary and Sarah, our deepest sympathy on the loss of Darwin. Steve & Riitta Blomme
The world lost a multi-talented, intelligent, loving man. I’m so sorry for his family to have lost his living presence. He will live on in your hearts forever.

My wife Dona and I send our deepest sympathies to Darwin's family. It was so special to be able to spend time with him in September reminiscing about our days in school, early Strathmore, and working on a political project together. We were shocked at his passing and he will be forever fondly remembered for his wit, intelligence, and kindness.
My sympathy to the Risdon Family on the loss of Darwin

Sorry for your loss Palila and family. From reading his beautiful Obituary, it's as if I knew him. May his memory be a blessing. Matthew DeGruchy
We were saddened to learn of Darwin's untimely passing, yet appreciative of the fullness of his life and accomplishments.
As neighbours of the Risdons in the 60s we could only speculate how George and Nettie's kids would get along in life.
They all made Mum and Dad proud.
With sincere regrets,
Maddy & Geoff Scott
I was saddened to learn of Darwin’s passing much too early with so much more to share.
I worked with Darwin for more than 30 years at SAIT in several capacities. I always respected that Darwin always put the best interests of his students front and center. From staying late in his labs, meeting students in his office or passionately advocating for his program. Darwin was a deserving recipient of the faculty association FIRST Award given to staff who best display the organizations values of Fairness, Integrity, Respect, Safety and Transparency.
Darwin was a very principled man who was not afraid to share his thoughts and beliefs to anyone that would listen… and even to some who didn’t want to listen. Agree with him or not, I always respected how he had thoroughly thought about the big picture issues and was so articulate in presenting his views. His many letters to the editor sharing his political opinions were always enjoyable and entertaining to read because of his sharp-witted writing skills. A Google search of Darwin lists many of his posts, some as recent as a few months ago.
I always admired Darwin being an adventurous early adopter and trail blazer. Early on in his career he accepted challenging international assignments in Malaysia and Egypt and was always innovating in his classroom. If I recall correctly, he was an early advocate for the upstart Reform and Wildrose political parties.
I will miss your wit, your great sense of humor and that devilish smile when you knew you winning over others. I will also miss your updates at the monthly Electronics Retirement lunches that I was able to attend.
RIP Darwin!
