COLEMAN, George 'Perry'

June 20, 1946 – Winnipeg, Manitoba

November 24, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

 

Perry Coleman, CPA, beloved husband of Rita Coleman (Collins), of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at the age of 75 years.

 

Perry was born in Winnipeg on June 20, 1946 as the only child of Brock and Isabelle Coleman.

 

Perry obtained his Registered Industrial Accountant (BC) designation (subsequently CMA, then CPA) in 1971.  Perry married Rita that same year and they were to celebrate their 50th anniversary on December 11, 2021. Perry spent most of his career as an accountant for Dominion Bridge in Winnipeg, Regina then finally Calgary.  He retired in 2014 as Controller for HTH Heatech.  Even in retirement he pursued his passion for accounting assisting Strides Running Store in Calgary. For many years Perry volunteered as a track and field official and was involved in the Calgary Track Council in various finance/accounting roles. Perry was a quiet, reserved man who was easy to talk to and be around.  Perry was very proud of his family and loved his grandchildren tremendously.  He passed on his love of music to his children, and grandchildren. Despite childhood cats, he was firmly a dog person.

 

Besides his loving wife, Perry is survived by his son Mark Coleman, partner Tanya and grandson Riley of Calgary; and daughter Kelly McLean, husband Chris, granddaughter Elizabeth and grandson Winston of Rossland, BC. Perry is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
