Obituary of Laraine Rowe

ROWE, Laraine Ann (née Jessop)
July 11, 1948 – Nairobi, Kenya, Africa
November 24, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Laraine Rowe of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at the age of 73 years.

Laraine was born in Nairobi, Kenya, Africa on July 11, 1948. She immigrated to Canada as a teenager and proudly became a Canadian citizen. She finished high school in Newfoundland and went on to graduate from Accounting and Computer Programming at the Nova Scotia Community College.

She loved history, especially the family's genealogy. She spent hours researching our family tree so we could stay connected to our history. She was an avid reader and you usually found her reading (or dozing) in her chair. She loved Disney movies and never turned down an opportunity to go see them with her daughters, no matter their age, or hers. Besides the birth of her own two daughters, her most cherished moments were being by her daughters' side at their weddings and the birth of her three grandchildren. Family was the most important thing to her and she made time for everyone, near and far, especially with her sister, Joan with whom she spoke several times a day. Laraine's most memorable vacation was when she got to travel to Portugal for her sixtieth birthday and had her whole family there to celebrate it. Laraine will be remembered most for her undying faith and love of family and friends.

“I am at peace, my soul at rest
There is no need for tears
For with your love, I was so blessed
For all those many years.”

Laraine is survived by her two daughters, Christine (Stephen Theriault) Rowe of St. John's, NL and Catherine (Carey Chrusch) Rowe of Calgary; and three grandchildren, Marcienne, Rowan and Rhéanne all St. John's, NL. She is also survived by her sister Joan (Lawrence) Schumacher, her niece Lauren (Dayton) Hulsey; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Laraine was predeceased by her parents Raymond John Jessop and Beatrice Eleanor Jessop (née Leonard) and her sister Wendy Jessop.
