Obituary of Alan Robert Hill

March 3, 1939 –Grande Prairie, Alberta

November 26, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

On a sunny Calgary morning, Friday, November 26, 2021, Alan Robert Hill peacefully took his last breath and joined his loving wife, Orah Kathrine (nee Liland) in heaven.

Alan will be remembered as a strong family man who enjoyed a good joke. To him, chocolate was his favorite vegetable and a milkshake counted as dinner. Alan was born to Elsie and Robert Hill on March 22, 1939 and grew up in the Peace River Region of Alberta with his sister Ethel Joy. He met his loving wife at a young adult function at a church in Grande Prairie and they married at Bethel Church, adjacent to the Liland farm, June 16, 1962. Alan and Orah lived in Saskatoon and Edmonton before they settled in Calgary where they raised their 4 girls. His professional career was primarily with Wild Leitz Canada and retired after many years of loyal service. Upon retirement, Alan and Orah were members of the High River Golf and Country Club and frequently travelled the Southern states, playing many courses throughout North and South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. Alan also enjoyed singing with the Good News Singers.

Alan is survived by four daughters and their spouses, Gayle and Bernie Moore of Calgary, Sharon and Todd Kendall of Edmonton, Lois and Al Aeckersberg of Kelowna, Diane and Murray Clift of Houston; and his grandchildren, Sarah Moore and Mark Moore of Calgary, Erik and Jordan Moore of Burnaby, Tatiana, Caisa, and Zoey Clift of Houston; and great-grandson Ayden Clift of Houston.

In his final years, he expanded his family to include the caring workers of WeCare and United Active Living Fish Creek.

A Private Family Service will be held. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed here.
